How document approval works

Applies to files, folders and notes on every course unit in the LMS.

Lecturer uploads

Teaching staff add files, folders and notes (pages/books) to any course.

QA reviews against quality measures

The Office of Quality Assurance checks each upload against SLAU university quality measures (relevance, accuracy, clarity, completeness, originality, accessibility, presentation and ethics) before approval.

Students access

Only approved files, folders and notes are released. Pending or rejected items stay hidden.

Lecturer-controlled (no QA hold)

Quizzes, assignments, exams, Google Meet, Zoom, BigBlueButton and similar tools stay with lecturers — they do not pass through Quality Assurance.

SLAU quality measures used before approval

Uploaded files, folders and notes are checked against these university measures (aligned with NCHE teaching and learning materials expectations) before students can use them.

  • Curriculum relevance — Material supports the course unit learning outcomes and programme curriculum.
  • Academic accuracy — Content is factually sound, current and appropriate for the level of study.
  • Clarity for learners — Language, structure and instructions are clear enough for enrolled students to use independently.
  • Completeness — Material is complete for its purpose (not an empty draft, placeholder or broken upload).
  • Originality & attribution — Sources are acknowledged; no plagiarism or copyright breach is evident.
  • Accessibility & usability — Readable format (or usable media) that enrolled students can open and follow.
  • Professional presentation — Titled, orderly and suitable for university teaching (layout, media quality, naming).
  • Ethics & appropriateness — Respectful, non-discriminatory and consistent with academic integrity and SLAU values.
